The Humane Society of the United States is a champion of welfare for issues pertaining to all animals at the federal and state legislative level. The American Kennel Club also has a department specifically devoted towards federal, state, and local legislation for canines. Both are excellent resources and a good place to start to find out more about how you can become involved.
