Why is my male dog urinating in the house and what should I do?

Male Dog Urinating Inside

If your dog is peeing in the house, he could be doing so for a number of reasons. If he's already housetrained, make sure that he doesn't have any health conditions that could be causing the accidents. You'll know if he's urinating or marking by the amount of urine that you find. If he's marking, he'll often leave a small spray. If he's relieving himself in the house, then you'll find a steady stream of urine and a puddle. Also consider whether there have been any changes in his environment such as a new pet, baby, change in food or other event that could be causing stress and anxiety.

If your dog is not neutered and is becoming an adult, he could be marking his territory. Neutering your dog will often alleviate the problem of marking in unwanted areas.

To fix the problem, you need to correct your dog immediately any time you catch him urinating in the house. Do so by using a firm voice and then immediately take him outside or to a designated elimination area. You might also want to consider crating your dog if you cannot be there to make sure that he doesn't continue this bad habit. Always give your dog plenty of opportunities to go outside.

we have 2 male unneutered male dogs (Carin and Westie) about 11 and 12 years old.
In a previous home we left them alone but when house cleaner came they would mark areas.
We moved and no longer have anyone come when we are not home and have not had an issue for almost a year, But the other night one dog wanted more attention due to not feeling well so when my wife got up off the couch and was busy just for a few moments the other dog pee'd where he usually sets.
My wife did not catch him in the act but wasnt but a min in time she realized what happened and scoulded him and put him outside. Do you belive if not catching him in the act he knew what his punishment was for.?? This is very upsetting to us and we do not want this to start again.

My pug is 5 years old. He is housebroken, he knows to go outside. We cannot catch him urinating in the house. He always does it when he knows we aren't looking. I don't know what to do. He has his own doggie door and access to a fenced in yard from there. Please help. Email me at sillylove28379@yahoo.com

i have a 5 month old staffie pup. he urinates and poo's, in our BBQ area on the pavers. Is he just being to lazy to go outside. are there any sprays that may detere him from peeing in this spot. Some natural odour maybe to stop him. We work and are not home during the day. He has lots of toys and bones to entertain him so bordom is not the issue.
Help.
